You effectively manage up and have a great desire for follow-through. You are someone who has had several years of experience in a non-profit setting and who sees the work of a development associate (or development and communications associate) as vital to the success of the organization and who is inspired by communicating with and building relationships with supporters and other community stakeholders.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Strategic Engagement & Operations (DSEO), the Development Associate/Officer will work on execution of annual giving, communications, and donor cultivation strategies for the year. As a member of the team, you will partner in the overall departmental responsibility to surpass fiscal year goals, manage external relationships, and deepen donors’ connection to JWFNY.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Events & Meetings

  • Participate as key team member in preparation for/implementation of events including: booking event spaces, making reservations, running errands, managing catering, etc.
  • With the DSEO and Creative Consultant, create and distribute all event-related digital content.
  • Provide comprehensive notes from event/meeting planning including tracking next steps and follow up with other professionals, lay leaders, and consultants.
  • Track all activities related to events and meetings including all content and collateral creation.

Development Research & Operations

  • Conduct donor and prospect research and provide analysis and strategy, including materials and briefings for meetings.
  • Coordinate with the DSEO to draft institutional grant reports and proposals.
  • Support general development, communications, and strategy work.
  • Communicate directly with donors to schedule and confirm meetings.
  • Manage and track donor and prospect data and provide general development support.
  • Oversee donor database (Little Green Light), including data entry and regular cleanup, report creation and analysis, and donor list management.

Development Communications

  • Support DSEO to plan, curate content, and coordinate donor communications/thank you follow up.
  • Coordinate and execute mailings to prospective and current foundations.
  • Maintain regular communication with donors, board & committee members, and prospective donors by phone, mail, and email.
  • Write/edit internal/external communications; respond to donors/prospective donors promptly
  • Create monthly newsletters including graphics and corresponding social media posts.
  • Assist with creation of other marketing emails.
  • Lead and implement JWFNY social media plan including content creation and design.
  • Maintain JWFNY website.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 2-3 years of directly-related work experience, including experience in the development industry that includes all of the above referenced responsibilities and:

  • Familiarity with the Jewish philanthropic landscape, including research experience.
  • Exemplary writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal/external stakeholders with directness, warmth, and tact.
  • Confidence to execute numerous projects simultaneously, determine priorities, follow through.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs.
  • Comfort learning and using a variety of online technologies and applications required.
  • Ability to self-start, working independently as well as part of a team, on multiple complex projects and priorities required.
  • Professional, enthusiastic, flexible attitude and demeanor required.
  • Previous experience with fundraising databases required.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events required.

SALARY/BENEFITS:  The salary range for this position is $65,000 – 75,000 (non-exempt) depending on experience and location. Current benefits package includes unlimited PTO, subsidized health insurance, and dental and vision coverage for the individual (available for family members through employee contributions). Parental leave policy allows for 12 weeks of paid leave.
