“The best protection a woman can have… is courage.”
– Elizabeth Cady Stanton
Women’s rights and abortion access were central issues in the 2024 elections. The national election results demonstrate that these rights are still in jeopardy. Elluminate’s work is more essential than ever as a vital space to ensure the advancement of women and the protection of social justice issues.
We are thrilled that the New York State Equal Rights Amendment has passed and will be enshrined into the state constitution. This will ensure both women’s and LGBTQ rights, as well as abortion access for all New Yorkers. We thank Senator Liz Krueger and Governor Kathy Hochul for their leadership – they exemplify how when women lead, they make the world better for all.
As women and allies, we cannot lose hope at this time; instead, we must steel our resolve to build a strong bench of women who are leading with moral courage, devising solutions to address emergent issues with a gender lens, and educating and mobilizing in support of women’s vision for advancing equity and social change.
We have a long way to go to lift up women and ensure reproductive freedom. As a first step, we invite you to join us on November 21st at Elluminate’s Convening2024 to come together in community. The Convening will focus on the State of Women in the Post Presidential Election along with other timely issues. We encourage all who are passionate about making change to attend and join us for this important conversation. You can learn more and register at www.elluminatewomen.org/Convening2024.
Our work is more crucial than ever. Support Elluminate today as we continue our critical work of elevating women and advocating for social justice.
