Rabbi Margie Klein Ronkin

Rabbi Margie Klein Ronkin is the Executive Director of the Essex County Community Organization (ECCO), a multifaith network uniting 59 congregations, community groups, and the North Shore Labor Council across lines of race, class, and faith to address the root causes of injustice. ECCO empowers community members to become leaders who organize for policy change, drawing on sacred narratives to place human dignity at the center of public life, and create a world where everyone belongs, everyone can thrive, and everyone has a say in the decisions that shape their lives.

Under her leadership, ECCO has helped win major statewide victories on housing, immigrant rights, and criminal-justice reform. Rabbi Margie is also the founder of Kavod Boston, a multi-ethnic, multi-racial community led by young Jews in Greater Boston, committed to each other and to building a liberated world for all people. 

For seven years, Rabbi Margie served as spiritual leader of Congregation Sha’arei Shalom in Ashland, MA. A graduate of Yale University and the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, she is co-editor of Righteous Indignation: A Jewish Call for Justice. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, CNN, and Newsweek, and she has been honored at the White House for her faith-based social justice leadership.
